NHCAC GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION

The North Harris County Alumnae Chapter ( NHCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has developed this scholarship as a way to give back to local communities by offering financial assistance to distinguished graduating African-American students pursuing higher education. NHCAC will award scholarships on a competitive basis to qualified applicants.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • African-American high school seniors graduating in 2024, who resides in or attends a high school in one of the service areas of the North Harris County Alumnae Chapter: Cypress, Jersey Village, Spring, Tomball, and Humble, Texas.
  • Cumulative GPA of a 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Candidate must enroll in an accredited college or university for the 2024 -2025 school year.

Deadline: Sunday, March 10, 2024

All completed applications submitted by the deadline will be screened and evaluated by the Scholarship committee. Transcripts must be postmarked by the deadlines. Eligible applicants will be scheduled for an interview. Scholarship awards will be announced in May. The scholarship award will be paid upon confirmation of college registration during the ensuing year of enrollment. The scholarship award must be claimed by October 31, 2024 and used within the academic school year in which the award was presented or the award will be forfeited.

CHECKLIST: Application must be completed in its entirety or the application will be disqualified. All sections of the Scholarship Application should be completed including:

  • Personal Information
  • Academic Profile
  • 1 Letter of Recommendation from Teacher or Counselor for Current School Year on school letterhead (signature and dated – pen and ink).  Electronic Signatures will not be accepted.
  • 1 Letter of Recommendation from School Official, Community Service Supervisor, Clergyman or Employer on school/organization letterhead (signature and dated – pen and ink).  Electronic Signatures will not be accepted.

  • Work Experience
  • Essay (1000 words or less)
  • Current headshot photo
  • Current Official (SEALED) High School Transcript MUST be mailed to the chapter PO Box .  **Must be postmarked by no later than Sunday, MARCH 10, 2024 ***
