North Harris County Alumnae Chapter was chartered in 2006 in the Blazing Southwest Region. For over 16 years we have focused on supporting our five service areas of Cypress, Humble, Jersey Village, Spring, and Tomball by providing programs and events that empower and serve the needs of our community and focus on the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
- Economic Development
- Educational Development
- International Awareness and Involvement
- Physical and Mental Health
- Political Awareness and Involvement
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time. Since its founding, Delta Sigma Theta has become one of the preeminent service-based sororities, with more than 300,000 initiated members and over 1,000 chartered chapters worldwide.
As a sisterhood comprised primarily of Black, college-educated women, the Sorority seriously considers the issues impacting the Black community and boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans.
It is an absolute privilege to serve as the 5th President of such an outstanding chapter where we are “Elevating our Excellence in Service, Sisterhood, Scholarship and Social Action” as we continue to serve you! We encourage you to continually check our website to stay abreast of the programs and events we host throughout our service area.
